Hi everyone,
In 2014 one of my goals is to take a short round trip flight on Spirit out of FLL maybe to DFW or up the Eastern Seaboard.
I am a dedicated AA customer but I have heard so many negative things about Spirit that I want to give them a try just for
the fun of it. Have any of you a.netters flown Spirt more out of curiosity than anything else?
I know this sounds like a strange goal but all will!

I gave Spirit a try earlier this year for an ATL-FLL day trip. I managed to snag an $85 round trip ticket during a sale; for that price I'd say it was worth it.
My expectations were set very low, so I was pleasantly surprised. The seats were very close together, but otherwise reasonable for the 1 hour flight. The staff I interacted with were all quite professional, although the other passengers were on average very low class.
Even though they are priced pretty cheaply, don't splurge for the "big front seats". I paid $30 extra for one, but found it very uncomfortable.
Make sure you wait for a fare sale before booking. Spirit's prices can fluctuate +/- %50 day to day. There are certainly some good deals to be had, so enjoy your trip!

I have resolutely decided to stay away from Spirit. My buddy's wife works in IAH and they have used them a few times. I have heard some funny stories from them, let's just put it that way. But I might be tempted to give them a shot just for the heck of it on one trip. My sister lives down in ATL and may be I will fly there for my niece's birthday over a weekend.

Be prepared to be nickled and dimed for everything from carry ons to checked baggage. In addition be prepared to eat your knees. They have by far the worst pitch I have ever flown. That said they offer nonstop from Boston to Myrtle so this golfer deals with it to get to SC quickly. I would recommend the BIG seat if you are 6' or taller. I am 6'3" and think the $$ spent on the big seat is well worth it! The crews I have experienced have been very good and all of the flights (6) I have taken to and from Myrtle have been packed!
