Still appalling to me that both Italy and USA are permitting EK to cabotage this route.

Very interesting. This route is a big problem for Alitalia and Delta due to the low Emirates fares.

Where is the rest?

I'm actually flying this route shortly as well.

They had a spectacular sale which ended a few weeks ago that provided two roundtrip economy tickets, JFK - MXP for $800 (that's 400$ per passenger).

I thought this route is a 5th freedom route-- so how would it be cabotage ?

Well when you have the "resources" EK does, why not just undercut everyone?

Lesfals

Was it cold in Milan? I used to live there years ago and the winters were harsh / freezing and the summer unbelievably hot.

I have a friend who wants to go so I will keep an eye on Emirates fares.

It's cheaper to fly to India on Emirates and to Asia on Singapore than to fly to Europe ijn "low season" now. And it's double / triple the distance.

I know quite a few people who are going to Asia on vacation instead of Europe.

Better use some service such as photobucket, flickr or picasa to upload your images.

By the way I noticed that for some reason Emirates seems to predominantly use its oldest 77Ws on this route (the A6-EB_ series) which have the older , non-HD version of ICE.

Regardless, I'm going to be traveling on this flight next week and looking forward to it.

The image above of EK J Class has the latest ICE systems, you can tell by the tablet and remote.

oops; I was referring to economy, where I believe (could be wrong) that the older series still do not have the digital wide-screen version of ICE.

No different to SQ on FRA-JFK/DME-IAH or KU on LHR-JFK or in fact any similar routes around the world. If US airlines (and European ones for that) spent more of their time improving service etc then perhaps they wouldn't be so afraid of the ME3.

Now this is how passengers fly in Economy class in and out of the USA!
All the US carriers should live up to the standard.
Thank you for the pics!
Let's just blame it on yields.
