"MUC to MAN not on the standard equipment is worth a dedication, isn´t it?"

The trip in one word:

"CHANGES"

A good day dear readers,

there are a couple of flights done recently like this way:

Germany Bavaria AllgäuAirport Memmingen (by FLIEGER67 Mar 19 2015 in Trip Reports)

The vids, please:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQyqvNiSCmM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TT55mamOUT4

So it seems there is an immediate need to fly out again and maybe on something just a little bit larger than the usual standard here.
The one I´am talking about leaves these southern german station pretty early in the morning, much to early for any inbound connecting flight.
And therefore a night on the road or maybe better at a hotel close to it is necessary.
One day prior opens a wide variety of options, nonstop like the usual traveller prefer, certainly!. Or maybe with a short detour on absolutely standard material, definitely or maybe to do everything possible to avoid flying on the very same route a thousand times?.
Or well, the Tripreporter way starting the trip just a stone's throw away but what should you do when the stone goes in the wrong direction?:

Thanx to once more:

A warm welcome to another one, just by surprise, of these sunny german spring days.
Parked the car at the Aeroporto well appropriate to tomorrows scheduled arrival, heading down by the sub for the main train station and here we are, trust me, this is a remote part of Stuttgart´s main train station. And not in any case, never, that I´ve spend some time in dreamland on this subtype of transport!

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/MIA06/MANENGMAR2014003_zpscde6360f.jpg
Just 19.00 Euro´s is the fare, we are calling at Schwäbisch Gmünd, Aalen, Ellwangen, Crailsheim, Ansbach and lucky me, reaching the final station Nuremberg pretty well ontime.
Everything else might be a high risk that I missed a stop in dreamland!. With one more short ride on the local sub for the
"Dokumentationszentrum Reichsparteitagsgelände"

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/MIA06/MANENGMAR2014005_zps2e6efde6.jpg
I´ve been to Nuremberg before, but not to this part of the city. A real special part from my point of view, really mixed emotions with this horrible history

There is no driver at all!. Are you sure that I´am not trapped in a horror movie or something like this?

Well, are you sure, this is my plane, really?.
No, not today, the example at A13 it is, where I´ve arrived after the 3th last and final call with great thanx to the long, long queue at security

The fare is 60.00 Euro´s managed by Opodo.de.
Yeah, the Dash for me. Don´t get me wrong, this is nothing really special but after the detour here and with an ´19 waiting at the gate, no!

A nice welcome on the ground from the front office and the "Kapitän", german staffed it is, some baggage issues fixed and now we are ready to go above FRA, no flightlevel info.
3.00 pm, 50 minutes by "Walter", departure ex 2700 meters runway "One-Zero".The temperature here at "Flughafen Nürnberg Albrecht Dürer“ is, trust me, 22 degrees, superb sunny sky, more than we see during weeks long in real summertime.
D-ABQC it is, just the one without an individual name, ok old joke!. An Dash 8-400, done on DUS-SZG previously and also leg no. 40 on type. In the air with LGW since 28.01.2009 and there are still 17 active examples in the fleet. Also interesting to follow this way:

Grey leather seats in the cabin, somewhat well used it is and the legroom is ok with a 80% close to all biz load.
For the classic legroom shot, 7F and two for me, late boarding, you know

The fare is 60.00 Euro´s again, managed the same way like the first leg by Opodo.
This is D-ABDY, no individual name to notice, leg no. 117 on type, new to the log. An A320 like on schedule,
in service with AB since 10.09.2009.
31 examples are in the fleet and there are no special stories to show here

8.30 pm, 20 minutes late, nothing out of the ordinary after a long day, 55 "Airberlin" minutes from the same runway like arrivals "Two-Three-Left" at 14 degrees and clear sky.
Bye now to "Düsseldorf Airport".
This one fit´s much better than on the Dash!

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/MIA06/MANENGMAR2014061_zps6c64123b.jpg
The load is 80% with a real good number of biz travellers all around.
Dark grey leather seaters, clean so far and less legroom than on Belair a week ago. 25F and three for me it is.
Cabin crew is three male FA´s and one female, large, black hair, nice and also the purser with a real nice chat during boarding.
Cockpit crew is from Germany again, the "Skipper" with a nice welcome on the ground experienced and motivated.
Service is snack and free drinks. Routing is via CGN and FRA, no flightlevel info.
No, never seen this magazine before!

For a cabin view and soon thereafter we are at "Flughafen München Franz Josef Strauß“ and also the place to stay for the night. Ok, touchdown was a little bit earlier at the 4000 meters "Two-Six-Right" at 9.30 pm, just 5 minutes late with clear sky and 14 degrees
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/MIA06/MANENGMAR2014064_zps80e36685.jpg

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/MIA06/MANENGMAR2014067_zps7060bcdd.jpg
Well, I´am the one for the short nights, if there is really a minute left to sleep at all at the Novotel Muenchen Airport.
Breakfast is ready just a minute after arrivals much to fast, so it feels like

Conclusions, please:
1.)LGW NUE-DUS: Calm as it should be.
2.)Air Berlin DUS-MUC: Call it relaxed for a short night.
3.)Singapore Airlines MUC-MAN: That´s how flying should be everyday.

Bye now, patience please, there is more to come and as usual, take care.

Great TR  . How much was the MUC-MAN route? Looks like Singapore offers the best (in meal terms). Anyways great TR and thank you for posting  .

Cool - everything looks very familiar, especially around NUE. Gonna use it tomorrow for a quickie to MUC.

Hi Markus, nice to see another of your reports.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
we are calling at Schwäbisch Gmünd, Aalen, Ellwangen, Crailsheim, Ansbach and lucky me, reaching the final station Nuremberg pretty well ontime.

I take it this was before last week's strike by loco drivers.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
And lots of mainly young people around

I was in Mannheim last week and saw a school group at a monument where a surviver was talking about the period. About four listened, six stood looking bored, the rest chatted amongst themselves. Sad.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
My friend, the prop and me!

Always nice to get upmclose and personal.

I'm glad you were able to pick up this leg with SQ. It is interesting to see a number of 5th freedom flights allowed in Europe. SQ service appeared to be as impeccable as ever and the meal was quite adequate for the sort flight.

Happy flying.

Hi Markus,

great report, and what an interesting way to get from Stuttgart to Munich. For sure the way for the true a.netter

Well done for catching this famous 5th freedom flight, it is also high on my list, but I would probably do it the other way around to avoid the unearthly departure time out of MUC. Service and comfort on board looks really good.

Hi M,

Nice to see one more story from your hand, again a nice mix of types and airlines. 2 standard hops on Walter and Berlin proper, followed by the main course which is Singair - a really nice way to bridge the gap between MUC and MAN. I did that myself a few years ago, flying the other direction and together with some a.netters onboard. A recommendable experience!

Hi Markus,

Another of your high quality reports, thank you

Definitely one to try eventually, though the one-way fares seemed quite high when I've looked. Service looks good, SQ quality as I sampled last year on a long haul. And Air Berlin to tie up the pieces did a good job.

Thanks

Hi Markus,

This has to be the best way to fly into MAN surely, just a shame MUC is a bit too far off the radar for me or I'm sure I'd fly the route more often. It feels so exotic flying SQ on this hop.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Or well, the Tripreporter way starting the trip just a stone's throw away but what should you do when the stone goes in the wrong direction?:

Those sort of trips are the best!

Riding fast through the tunnels but, ahem, isn´t there something missing here?.There is no driver at all!. Are you sure that I´am not trapped in a horror movie or something like this?

But thankfully you survived to tell the tale!

This one fit´s much better than on the Dash!

Nearly as good as English crisps!

The overall load is not more than 60%, mostly english travellers, just a few asians and the one or two left with some unknown reasons!

There's always one or two of those with unknown reasons

Happy flying

Hi Markus,

nice to read your story and on SQ. Shame about the double logged Q400, always a risk. I had 3x the same KLM 737 on my last 3 flights with them
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
9V-SWF for me, the Boeing 777-300 like on schedule.
New to the log it is, leg no. 3 on type

Just the 3rd 77W for you? Whoa... so few.
And you're into ordering special meals also these days it seems, VLML, good choice

Hey Markus

Great to see another report from you. Its been so many years since I was in NUE. IRRC it was a flight LHR-NUE on a LH B732 so that tells you how long!

Nice views of the city and nice pics of AB . I still have yet to fly them. Hopefully sometime.

Congrats on the SQ W/B. Always a nice hop to get larger metal.

Hi there Markus - as I'm sure you remember, a good portion of this trip is familiar to me. Stuttgart - Nuremberg with the DB, NUE-DUS with AB and then an AB mainline flight - of which I had two just yesterday. Good to see another report from the SQ flight between MUC-MAN. Hopefully trying this one out myself soon enough...
