Suddenly, Legroom! AA Q300 And A320 To IAH

Tue Jun 30, 2015 2:51 am

Before I begin, I'm going to show y'all examples of the legroom I get on similar flights.

That's mainline on all 3 of the legacy carrier's main domestic workhorses. Being 6'4", I've learned not to expect much from airline seat legroom. But the following trip surprised me greatly. Enjoy!

FAY-CLT

Current mileage: 29,983 lifetime miles

I arrived at FAY with about 2 hours before my departure time. Being from a military family, I was able to use the USO.

Just chilling out and watching some River Monsters.

CLT-IAH

Wow! I get a ton of legroom on this flight too! Can this stay with the rest of the airlines?

Mileage: 31,014 lifetime miles, 1,031 today

This trip went great solely because of the legroom on the flights! Hopefully my future flights are this comfortable!

See y'all next time!

Hi IAHflyer97,

The contrast in legroom between the first photos and the subsequent flights is really noticeable. Having a couple of extra inches makes all the difference.

Excellent seating position on the Dash to capture the retraction and extension of the landing gear - great shots.

Thanks for sharing. EN

Thanks for the report   The Q300 is something I fly now and then with WF and I love every minute of it!

IAH was an interesting airport!

I'll be flying my first AA/US Q300 CLT-EWN-CLT later this week and next, so thanks for the preview! I think we're in Row 8 but can't quite remember...

Good to see some love for the Dash! It is one of my favorites, have flown it ITH - PHL - ITH on numerous occasions and I have found it to be quite comfortable despite being such a small plane.

Love the Q100 (This one, N930HA is the oldest Q100 in the Piedmont fleet)

Man, there ain't a bad seat on those things! Funny thing is that it gets better as you go back. Thanks!

Thanks! I love the Dash 8! And yes, IAH is very interesting. It surprises me of how well it functions as hub with its layout.

Hope you enjoy it! I was in 13A. 8 should get you right next to the wheel if I'm not mistaken.

We gotta get 'em while they last! I still haven't flown a Q100 or Q400 yet. I hope I'm able to soon!

Thanks a bunch! Always happy to do these when I can

Loads were decent. First flight was full, but I had an empty seat next to me on the A320. Really helped the comfort!

Awesome TR mate!

Love the cockpit shots

I also like the shot of the FedEx DC-10 and the A319 retro - what a good catch!

Keep up the good work!

That retro was 100% luck! I also saw the PSA and America West Retros, but couldn't get them due to distance in CLT, and bad lighting in IAH

I love the DH8-300 myself. Great plane and have been on it between EWN-CLT too many times to count. Love the 3 seater on the last row.

Thanks for the photos; brings back many great memories of this great turboprop

I forgot to say that I'm glad you got good legroom!

The legroom looked much better than that in the pics from your past flights

I can't wait for you to do a TR on a 753 or a 764

Man, it's like night and day! There's just no comparison between these flights and the others I posted in the beginning.

Someday... The 753 right now is very much within reach, it's just coughing up a couple hundred bucks to do it. That's part of the hobby though!

To be honest, my favorite part of flying now is writing about it afterwards and reading what others think of it. In other words, I'm addicted to the comments. I know my words in these are a bit scarce, but I do sincerely enjoy doing these. So pretty much every flight I take from now on will probably be reported!

Thanks to everyone that took time to read and/or comment
