They are not in the production list yet. I would say it's going to be a surprise if we see one next year.

This was already asked and covered in replies #1127, 1128, 1131 and 1132 on page 23. So you and others don't keep repeating the same questions about future deliveries, why don't you bookmark this:

I know this one sounds noobish, but what does the 1/2/3 means in A330-xx1/2/3 means? I know the middle 0,2,4 are engine codes, but what about the last digit? I read somewhere this denotes gross weight, is this true?

If so, the why EVA is still taking -302 deliveries instead of -303s? Just asking

the second gives the engine type, P&W, GE or RR and the third the engine version, most often what thrust level.

-302 has 80E1-A4 engine. Interesting BR taking the A333 with the A4 when their previous A332 were the A3 higher powered ones.

So China Southern reverted to RR instead of PW... Quite a blow for PW. The A330 was the rare segment where PW was still present on the widebody market.

I noticed that myself, unusual for them to change unless AB decided only to offer RR after a certain period leading up to the Neo. Their last
three deliveries have been Trent 700`s. I don`t know the reason for change, but didn`t the Trent offer a significant improvement in economy?
I think it the main reason it became the most popular engine choice for the frame, perhaps that advantage couldn`t be ignored by CS.

China Southern's first 14 A330s (a mixture of -200s and -300s) built between 2005 and 2008 had RR.

For follow-up orders they switched to PW. It was rumoured at the time that even PW were surprised about this. These 26 planes were built between 2010 and 2017.

Then in October 2015 (two years ago) they switched back to RR for their (final?) ten A330s.

So, 24 x RR and 26 x PW.

Every other new-build that has gone to China has had RR. GE haven't gained a single order.

Thanks for the reply, I hadn`t realised they`d started out with Rollers. I wonder if China Southern can be counted on by AB
to order Neo`s in the near future, or will they go plastic AB or Boeing?

They already went plastic with substantial amount of 787-9 and A350-900 on order. As for NEO, I think China 3 (CA, MU, CZ) ordering them is extremely likely. CA and MU's European routes and CZ's Australian routes are perfect fit for A330-900 (assuming 242T MTOW version) which 787-10 will have trouble on. Also at the opening ceremony for A330 completion center in Tianjin, Airbus said that it will also do A330NEO in the future, which is a strong hint of future NEO order from China.

https://www.flightglobal.com/news/artic ... ow-443097/ says:

Airbus is aiming to fly the first Beluga XL outsize transport in the third quarter of 2018, and achieve power-on before the end of this year.

It will undertake a 10-month flight-test campaign before entering service with the company's specialist Airbus Transport International arm.

And gives us a pretty picture too:

So first flight in less than a year!
Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world
The heart has its beaches, its homeland and thoughts of its own
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the morning brings
The heart has its seasons, its evenings and songs of its own

The A333s BR operate is for short-medium hauls; current longest BR A333 route is to CGK (5.5h) so they don't need the full thrust level. I also think these birds are 230t MTOW certified instead of 235/242t.

It wouldn't surprise me if BA finds out about this (I'm sure someone at BA may be reading this, they probably all do) and sues that airline for copyright infringement through plagarism.

Perhaps tail logo is by design, not accident. IAG and Hainan hold shares in each other. IAG own many colour combinations of this logo, so in time could become a group tail logo (colours altered), easing aircraft switching. Lawyers, remain off duty.
