E-3 Sentry In Mobile, AL

Sat Jan 31, 2004 2:09 am

I was driving by University Blvd S. yesterday (01/29/04) when I heard something I hadn't heard in a while. It was the sound of an old turbofan aircraft. I looked up and I saw this beautiful and graceful E-3 Sentry on final approach for Brookley Fields. Everything was hanging. Flaps. Landing gears.
Time noted was exactly 3.30pm

Why landing in Mobile? I've no idea. Anybody?

Working Transition in the pattern on the way back to Tinker, after a mission off the Gulf coast. We often stop at fields around the US for Transition work, at 'Unfamilar' airfields, post mission. Though Mobile is one we rarely use.

Hope this helps.
