Can someone please inform me? Is it so even if it is between two married people of opposite sexes?

Because the church is backwards, stuck in the past and preserving a thought process that only exists to make more Catholics.. That isn't to say the majority of Catholics actually follow those rules though.
There is a reason there are so many people disillusioned with the Catholic Church. I doubt you will find any major religion that has alienated so many members.

You don't even need to be married, or the opposite sex, with the Catholic church it is all or nothing. Except if you are certain priests. Differrent rules apply there.

Thats why I said certain priests. I know the majority are honest, etc, it is always the minority that give the bad name, but as they hold such a position in society, they need to be holier than holy.

So the Catholic Church should change its bylaws based upon popular opinion, and what non-Catholics think?
I am Catholic, and the whole contraception thing is kind of an eye-roller, but I like the fact the chruch does not bend its rules based upon the times.

As for the Church not "bending" its rules based upon the times, I'm a bit sceptical as to whether this has actually been true. Look at Vatican II - a massive upheaval that was widely acknowledged as bringing the Church into the modern era, from a period where the liturgy was rooted firmly in medieval times, in many instances.
I don't think that the Church should change its doctrine based upon what people tell it. However, I do believe it should constantly be re-examining its rules to identify if they are no longer relevant to its members' beliefs. If a majority of practising Catholics disagree with the rules on contraception, for instance, then surely the Church is out of step with its flock?

For many Catholics - no.
For the Church - yes.
I took the route of switching to the Episcopal Church. Very similar but without some of the baggage like this, celibate priests, etc. Essentially Catholic without the guilt.

Technically, the church does not believe in any form of birth control, even during marriage.
