Car Rental For 20's Yr Old In Europe?

Mon Nov 07, 2005 7:02 pm

Hey guys whats up?

Im looking to rent a car in Europe, well Zurich from about the 20th of december for a few days, the problem is I am 20 and not the elusive 21 as required by the large agencies.

I know of Sixti, are there any others out there offering such services to under 21's?

Cheers

You might want to consider using public transport.
Car rentals in Europe are insanely expensive, and then there's the fuel prices to take into account.

Try Sixti´s parent company under www.e-sixt.de.
They sell categories 0 thru B5 (Opeal Astra) with 20 years minimum age.
Also, you should compare TOTAL prices for your planned rental: basic rate + insurances + winter tyres + number of included kilometers.

To my experiences, sixti sometimes is more expensive than Sixt itself (there´s also a section "Holiday Cars" by Sixt which often has very good prices ...); as sixti has only 150 free km (not miles !) per day, total costs will rise fast if you drive the car a lot (between 0.19 and 0.23 CHF per km !)

Quotes I got for 20-DEC for 7 days / ZRH:
A1 Opel Corsa: 245 EUR
B5 Opel Astra: 249 EUR
Only extra costs: 6 CHF/day for winter tyres (if needed).

P.S. Avis, Hertz, Alamo and Budget seem to have a strict "21-years" rule.
