It's been so long, but I think it's a 193. Ball, use the alley balls, and start out using a 14 or 16 pounder (cue "Hey look, I've got 16 pound balls joke....) for a few frames then drop down to a 12 pound ball.

Highest score = 234, which was back during my league days when I was younger. Hell, I still even have the lane printout, frame by frame:

X......X......9/.....X......54......X........X.......X.......X......X81
29....49....69....88.....97....127....157....187....215....234

(bulleted to keep the columns aligned)

I believe my ball was 11lbs, but I've since grown out of it. Nowadays on the infrequent visits to the lanes, I'll just use a house 16lb (or 15lb if I can't find any 16s to fit my hand), and my average hangs around 130-140. Funny thing is, even to this day, I still can't get a ball to hook; I'm as straight of a shooter as they come Big grin

By the way, if anyone visits the newer lanes that post your throwing speed, I'd like to see what the average around here is. I average at around 21-22 mph with a 16lb ball.

I bowl at Majestic Lanes in New Jersey. The system they have shows the speed of the ball thrown. My ball speed is in the 13's and rarely goes over 14mph. League average is 165

I have not bowled for at least 3-4 years but I believe my highest was around 160-170. If I do bowl I usually use an alley 12lb or 13lb ball.

from $60.00 (kids' balls & beginner/spare balls) to $250.00 (mid range & performance balls) - price includes drilling and thumb/finger grips.

I have bowled seven perfect games (300). My average is 200+ in scratch competitive leagues.

James - If your only 14 and your highest is 170 thats not so bad. I didnt start bowling like i do now until i was almost 18. I used to just screw around and got into a grove one day and found out that I was actually pretty good. If you were to practice at your age, you could easily become a 200avg bowler. Just FYI  Wink

BAH!!! 10 pin bowling sucks!

I'm a 5 pin bowler, and I have my own shoes and balls. I have been in a league for the past 12 years, and my highest score was 296 I think. (perfect game is 450.) As for 10 pin....I've only gone a couple times, and I'm not quite as good.  Wink

You must be joking! 5 pin is just as popular as 10 pin around here!

But, for those of you that aren't familiar with 5-pin bowling, here's a short explanation.

There are 5 pins, you get 3 balls per frame, and the balls are much smaller than 10 pin. The pins are not worth one point each, but are set up like so:

2...................2
....3...........3
..........5

So, if you get all the pins down, you have 15 points. Other than that, it's pretty much the same game.

Go out and try it sometime!  Wink
