Where To Stay In AMS? (for Business)

Mon May 27, 2013 8:09 am

Hello all,

I'm going on a Business Trip from July 17th to 19th.

Although I've been in Amsterdam before, I went there just for a weekend a stayed quite a ways outside the city. This time it's for business so I'd like to get a more central location, yet in a ... how do I put it .... suitable for work area.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks!
Cheers

Well the meeting is in Leiden, so not in Amsterdam - but I'll be staying at Amsterdam with colleagues from work.

So I'm more looking for cool places to hang out at, have a few drinks, etc.

Any ideas will be more than welcome =)
Cheers

I would suggest one of the hotels near the Amsterdam-Zuid or Amsterdam RAI station. Amsterdam Zuid is the main business district, and Amsterdam RAI is a large conference and trade show venue. In the vicinity of both stations you will find many hotels aimed at the business traveller, including chains such as Novotel and Crown Plaza. If you are looking for a good place to hang out, you might like the Citizen M, as they 'want to bring people together' and have a fun atmopshere. I have also heard good things about the NH Musica. With the tram you can still be in the city center relatively easy. Added bonus is that both the Zuid and RAI station have direct trains to Leiden, in fact the travel time is about 10 mins quicker then it would be from the Central Station.

I can recommend the Hilton for business.

On the canal, has a great terrace out the back where you can have a drink and relax watching the boats go by.
About 12-15 minute walk to the tourist bits and not noisy at all.
you don't get a second chance to make a first impression!
Growing older, but not up.

I stayed at the Double Tree last summer. A very nice hotel and a good location next to the railroad station. The rooftop bar is a great place to watch trains pull in and out of the station and take photos of the city.

If someone else is paying try the Renaissance hotel. It's near the main station (5 min walk) and there are some great cafes, restaurants and bars in the area. I always stay there.

and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

I found the place a bit dull given that there are so many other places with Dutch charm in the city. It's been a while since I've been to Amsterdam so I will defer to some of the good suggestions already posted on this thread.
