Perhaps I am missing something but is there any way to view the full size photo when viewing them? I click on the expand button in the top right corner which expands it a little within my browser window, and then clicking the button again makes it full screen, but all that seems to do is stretch the previous view. Is there not a 'full size' option?

No, you're not missing anything. We are currently unable to view images at their native resolution. Crazy.

Anyone know if this is something that is coming back, I thought at one time when you had the paid membership you had access to the full resolution photos, but you can't even buy membership anymore (which I would be willing to do if it gave me full res photos). Its such a shame to see so many beautiful photos which I want to use as backgrounds on my PC, but then the largest resolution is like some circa 1995 1024x768 or slightly better

But if this is about the screen size issue, DM is aware and will update us today. I'm secretly hoping it is also a quick fix, which means it could be solved by tomorrow.

Wrong thread.... I suggest keeping your feedback in the main feedback thread, to avoid the chance that your post gets 'lost' and subsequently unanswered.
FC membership will return, but no ETA on that. But right now, you can choose to have the photos displayed in the full uploaded resolution. Just tick the appropriate box in your user profile (not to be confused with your forum profile).

Could you explain how to do that Airkas1 please. I would like to view photos in full size and am currently unable to, only around 1024 size like zaphod.

Of course.

Go to the main page --> your profile settings:


Then scroll down to the bottom --> "always display large photos" -> tick yes.



Press save.

Thanks, I have done that and saved settings, however all /M and /L pics are exactly the same size. There is no way to make them bigger than the square shape they all appear as in the middle of my screen (1920x1080 23"). I have tried the "large" link underneath the pic and also clicking the arrow expander on the top right of the pic, but neither makes any difference, it just refreshes the screen and move the position slightly. Perhaps you could provide a pic of original large resolution for me to test.

It's opens 1600 for me in L and 1050 in M

Tested Edge, IE11, Chrome and FF

But 1600 isn't the original size I wouldn't have thought, unless he's shooting with a potato. Aren't pro photos typically anything from about 3k to 8k normally? Is it not possible to access those? I'm sure the photos used to be bigger on the old site. The pics on this site are tiny by comparison.

No, as far as I can remember, 1,600 pixels has always been the maximum width for uploaded photos. The photographer's original will be the sort of sizes you're talking about, but not the edited ones on this site.

The photographer's originals have never been available to download as far as I remember. The photos on this site actually tend to be bigger than on the old site, as we now allow for a max of 1920x1080 (HD). I hope this answers your question.
