Suites and Flight Attendant View Lines

Tue Oct 31, 2017 12:29 pm

I know that regulations call for flight attendants to be able to see a certain portion of the passengers while seated during takeoff and landing. How does this work with first class suites? Is there a seperate regulation for those?

On my airline, There’s a CCTV camera in the ceiling that allows the purser to discreetly check the status of the suites. It’s amazing how the technology has advanced that these cameras have become so small and discreet, that you would never know it is there. I’ve found that it is very rarely used, so crew are not whiling away the hours spying on passengers. It’s just there to satisfy safety requirements.

And before the outrage over privacy ensues, remember that although the suites have doors, you are renting transportation from someone else and you are still in a public place and therefore have no reasonable expectation of privacy onboard.
