DL's website shows 777 deployed on ATL-LHR, more than likely for the holiday rush from 22-30 DEC.

This is the ATL-LHR flight that DL is operating on behalf of VS because of the problems with their 789 fleet (DL 284/285).

So rather than using the pax friendly A330 they are using the cramp and noisy 777 which all and sundry say is bad....hhhhhmmmm

Delta's 777 are 9-abreast, so it's not cramped.

Yeah, I'll take the 9-abreast 777 over the A330 any day. They're anything but noisy, and it feels like a cathedral in there (compared to other aircraft).

- No thanks, take an A330 over a 777 everyday of the week & yes, they are noisy vs a 330 if behind the wing.

Its likely all that was available at the times needed, the 787-9 issues across an couple of airlines now have created an real shortage in the short-term over the holiday period.

Not quite accurate. The DL fleet isn't stretched at all at the moment. This flight is actually currently operated by the DL 764 and is being upgraded to 772 for the holiday season. DL has plenty of flex to have used the 333 if it wanted to but it chose the 772 specifically.

I fly ORD-HNL or IAH-HNL and back on UA 777s almost every year, and since I'm flying standby, I'm almost always behind the wing... and it's about as quite as any airliner cabin I can think of. And I fly a LOT. Now that they're 10-abreast, it's a bit cramped, but I've never noticed any noteworthy noise levels.

I fly quite a bit long haul, in the last year I've flow A380, A346, A333, A332, 789, 773 and 763. Although I like the 777, it is noisy compared to the Airbuses in my view. However the 3+3+3 cabin is very comfortable and in my view beats the A330 overall.
