Iberia A320 NEO “Bandit/Racoon” Cockpit Mask

Thu Aug 09, 2018 10:13 am

I recently came across a picture of Iberia’s new A320 NEO and noticed that it included the same black exterior cockpit “mask” as the A350, A330 NEO, and the A321 LR. Does anyone know why Iberia had the mask on this aircraft? Could we possibly see more of this in the future?

AC has it with their new livery. Even the Boeing aircraft.

Have you seen the new livery on the 777/787?

Airbus is moving ahead with this on all their aircraft. Saw something about not having to deal with various airline paint schemes for trim pieces when replacing glass units.

First displayed on the A350, then it ended up on the A330 NEO, now it's showing up on just about everything.

Every parts warehouse and distributor can supply these pieces without needing to paint anything, or have it look awkward.

It's not the same thing. OP was talking about the black framing that Airbus introduced on the A350, then the A330 Neo, and now seems to be applying it to everything

AC's black mask is a paint scheme specific thing, but the A320 in question is a new Airbus standard black framed cockpit windscreen design.
