Spotting London Heathrow Sunday January 20

Fri Jan 18, 2019 10:32 am

Hello, I'll be at Heathrow next Sunday for some spotting. If anyone is around and would like to catch up/meet that would be cool. The wind seems to be from the north. I was wondering if in that case they will choose for easterly departures. I'll probably check out Feltham park and/or Myrtle Avenue. I'm also looking for a website that gives inside information about special flights that might be around that day. Does something like that exists?

I was there last week, bad timing. The day before/in the morning I would check FR24 to see what would arrive that day. During the day I would keep an eye on it as well. In my case I wasn't really looking for special schemes, but more towards rare (for me) airlines. The Brunei 787, Turkmenistan 757, Uzbekistan 767 and Azerbaijan 787 (2x in the dark, but with no tail lights on :yell: ) were highlights in terms of traffic.

On 2-3 of the days TF-ISX was operating on FI450, so I would definitely check out that flight. With several MH flights per day, also keep an eye on 9M-MAC.

Thanks Kas, did you had good weather? I decided to cancel the trip because of the overcast that is expected. I can better go with more chance of sunshine. Thanks for the tips about checking for special flights. I`ll check it out next time when I plan to go.

I had overcast and drizzle mostly. Only 1,5h of real nice light (sunset) in the 3-3,5 days I was there. But I mainly came for night photos, and in that I'd like to think that the trip was a success :).
