Airbus Radome

As per the pic is anyone aware what is the reason behind such shade of unpainted Airbus Radomes. Is it some radiation absorbing paint to absorb Weather radar radiation?

Radomes are made of composite and require a paint that is “transparent” to the radar signal returns. If it absorbed the radiation, the radar wouldn’t see rainfall.

The radome is composite. The aircraft in this case is aluminium. Thus different surfaces.

Correct. But why is the composite Radome in two colors in the pic. It is evident on unpainted Airbuses. On the A320 for eg: Radome can be mfg using AFRP, QFRP, GFRP. or may be even more materials.

It might be a different surface that you're seeing, since the tail (HF antenna) has the same thing going on. Probably has more to do with comms/nav than with WX radar since that also tilts up and down outside the painted area.

Possibly to minimise the head-on erosion of an un-painted radome

The black is anti-static paint. The gray is a top-coat. Erosion boots are clear.
