Question re. Antonov An-148

Wed Sep 11, 2019 4:27 pm

Anyone know how this a/c engages its lateral mode (LNAV)? I haven't been able to find a close-up photo quite detailed enough to confirm, but although there is a VNAV button on the MCP, I am pretty sure, I don't see one for LNAV. Similarly, one incarnation of this aircraft for X-Plane has no LNAV function (but does have VNAV). Is there some other way then to activate flight plans in the An148?

Googled till I am blue in the face - and I can't locate a POH, so turn to you guys! :-)

Thanks!

As far as I can tell there's a button labeled "NAV" at the far left.

A nice high res pic of the panel would help. ;)

There is a switch NAV1/NAV2/GPS, which suggests that there must be a way to set LNAV and switch it to ILS at arrival, but there is no NAV button per se, at least in the JarDesign incarnation of the aircraft - which does seem to be the same as the few pictures of the cockpit I have found, though as we have said, I haven't found a good enough photo yet to confirm this. Seems unlikely though that the real-world plane would have a VNAV button but no LNAV/NAV button, and I can't see that any of the other buttons there would function as one.

Thanks.

Maybe you can push the HDG knob? That's how you engage NAV in an Airbus.

I did try that - there doesn't seem to be a 'push' function though, in the JD aircraft at least. Thanks.
