This is the only C-31A of the US American forces, correct me if I am wrong. How comes the selected this aircraft? You would think they could have chosen another type of aircraft, a type that USAF or the US Army already operated...

Probably for the same strange reason they replaced it with 2 Dash-8s, which isn't in widespread US military use either. There's the USAF E-9 range control/telemetry aircraft (100s), and the army has 2 RO-6As (300s) for recon.

Cant find a C-X designation for the Golden Knight's ride.
