Mass Shooting in Greenville, TX

Mon Oct 28, 2019 3:57 am

Last night, there was a shooting at a Texas A&M Commerce homecoming party in Greenville, Texas which left 2 people dead and dozens more issued. This horrific event is just the latest in a long line of mass shootings in America over the past few years and an unfortunate reality facing America. Our thoughts and prayers go to those affected by this event.

Seems like this was a targeted shooting in which another innocent person was caught in the crossfire. My guess is gang violence. Not really a true active shooter. Regardless, terrible for the victims and their families.

Definitely was a bunch of gang bangers, so this will drop out of the news cycle quickly as there is nothing that can be exploited about it.

Calm down, everyone. He was simply exercising his Second Amendment rights.

If only the gunman would have done his "thoughts and prayers" before thinking of committing mass murder... Maybe his buddy Jesus would have advised against it.

Didn't realize the second amendment legalized murder. Also, if this was a gang-related shooting, odds are that the gun owner wasn't legally carrying anyways.

And things are getting more than a little crazy in Oklahoma:

. Starting next Friday, Nov. 1, anyone 21 and older can legally carry a gun without a permit. This means they can have the gun in public, open or concealed, without needing a background check or training. Exceptions include felons and people who have committed certain crimes such as aggravated or domestic assault and battery. Illegal immigrants are also not allowed to have guns.

The new law is also changing the way police respond to calls where someone has a gun.

It appears to be that Oklahoma leads the country in the ease of bribing politicians.

Good for Oklahoma. Hope other states follow their lead.

Open carry brings sort of a civility to conversations.

Civility?

Maybe fear. Maybe intimidation. Maybe an increase in already high level of shootings.

Maybe we should be asking Doctors, Nurses & Techs in ER's around the state about the civility of guns.[/quote]

I'm sure you read about the electric companies being able to collect "fees" from people who decide to install solar or wind systems to lower their electric bills. While the electric companies had a hat in that game my bet is that the NRA has a bigger hat in the gun issues. Cash or intimidation. Not that difficult for them to get what they want.

Let's wait a year or two to see how the gun issue works out. Use stats to evaluate the level of problems - up or down. My bet is that gun related shootings and deaths will increase.

No, but luckily there are sources and definitions given, so please feel free to tell us the real number of mass shooting, which ones you think don't fit the definition and why: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of ... es_in_2019

Unless you can do that essentially from memory your statement only shows that you have no idea how many mass shootings there have been so far.

Brandon Gonzalez in custody. Speculated to have targeted someone and the others were random. Not a lot of meat on that article, investigation continues. No gang this reported at this point.
