I thought this would be an interesting topic because, while most airlines focus hard on the business component of travel, there are some airlines whose base is ethnic travel. Being based in the US, the two that leap to mind the most are PR and AV's SAL operation.
Philippine Airlines:
Destinations served: LAX, SFO, JFK
Largest Filipino Communities in the US.
1. Los Angeles MSA: 294,290 people
2. San Francisco MSA: 164,236 people
3. NYC MSA: 154,502 people
4. San Diego MSA: 99,661 people
5. Chicago MSA: 82,965 people
6. Honolulu MSA: 81,441 people
7. Las Vegas MSA: 75,208 people
8. Riverside, CA MSA: 62,880 people
9. San Jose MSA: 60,251 people
10. Seattle MSA: 49,344 people
Fastest Growing Filipino Communities in the US (time span 2013-2018):
Riverside: 25,804
Los Angeles: 21,204
Las Vegas: 17,825
Sacramento: 9,488
Phoenix: 8,494
Interestingly enough, the Filipino population in the Bay Area declined in this time frame.
Avianca's San Salvador Operation:
Destinations Served: LAX, SFO, DFW, IAH, IAD, JFK, MIA
Largest Salvadoran populations in the US:
El Salvador
1. Los Angeles MSA: 488,354 people
2. DC MSA: 319,832 people
3. NYC MSA: 244,349 people
4. Houston MSA: 211,441 people
5. Dallas MSA: 101,254 people
6. San Francisco MSA: 85,378 people
7. Riverside MSA: 61,561 people
8. Boston MSA: 57,494 people
9. Miami MSA: 54,439 people
10. Las Vegas MSA: 32,409 people
Fastest Growing Salvadoran Communities in the US (time span 2013-2018)
Houston: 46,089
Los Angeles: 45,610
Washington DC: 35,669
New York: 23,985
Dallas/Fort Worth: 21,802
Obviously this view is somewhat American centric because I live here. That said, what airlines on a global scale have their primary customer base as ethnic travel?
