I would take a guess that every airline will be increasing frequency

Nice add! Not sure how long this lasts, but I hope it sticks.

https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/ ... 005531/en/

AS adding PDX-FLL nonstop service is a possibility with (a) AS having a FF base in the PDX market and (b) AS having connecting feed from Alaska, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest in addition to O&D to support PDX-FLL nonstop service on AS.

AS could also add nonstop service to ATL, DTW, IAH, PHL, STL, and IAD out of PDX in order to better compete against other airlines that serve these destinations nonstop from PDX.

I had also previously mentioned AS adding PDX-IND/RDU nonstop service as a possibility with IND and RDU both being two of the top destinations without any nonstop service out of PDX.

AS should operate IAD n/s. Those other destinations are not prioritized like that for AS. I expect more long haul like T-cons/Hawaii than Mid-Con. I wonder how much of their network is reachable with a reasonable connection, that was not before? I know there is some traffic.

The POP will be closing 8 gates for the new terminal project next week, some for 2 years and some for good. The gates are C1, C2, C4, C5, D1, D2, D3, D4.

I cannot think of anyone this will really impact. AS can expand out in C when SWA moves to E soon. D1 is a multi user gate. D3 is Delta, but they probably will not need it for a while.

Only impact will be D2 - Air Canada and D4 - Sun Country / West Jet. Any idea where these airlines will be placed, if they resume / add additional operations in the future?

None of this will probably happen, but AMS is scheduled to return 9/1, BA to LHR 9/2,
HND 10/24, and LHR 4/24/21.

RWA380,
Empire Airlines served PDX from OLM and AST, plus AST from HQM and SEA with SWM IIIs in summer '93. I think it only lasted that one season as they retreated then quit pax service in '95 to focus on the flying for FedEx.

Also WestCoast/AirWest did BKE-ALW.

This is probably posted somewhere....so sorry in advance, but what is the purpose of the closure of the D gates?

Given that all the listed gates are close to the core, I would guess the gates are being closed to begin work on the expanded main termial. From memory I want to say POP was expanding the terminal into the inside set of gates

Moved to Redmond area at the end of May & was very pleased to see my options on flying AS/QX have increased quite a bit today, I was dreading connecting over SEA for all trips, now I can vary occasionally. All E-175's heading south & a mix to SEA of jets & Q's.

Just for fun I checked an old Hughes Airwest timetable from 1975. There was a 3 stop flight arriving in SFO at 7:25 pm and continuing on to LAX arriving at 9:23 pm. Not sure how useful that was for connections to anywhere except maybe some red-eyes heading east, or maybe LAS/PHX/SAN.

IIRC, it routed SEA-PDX-RDM-LMT-RDD-SFO-LAX, it was daily in each direction on a DC-9-10. IIRC, the timing was rather limited on connecting opportunities.

Not just that, but it was on Q200s or E120s. I remember it was exciting news when they finally got a Crj-200 to SLC, then the weekend service to DEN around 2005! Now they have flights all the way to Chicago, the majority of flights are on jets, including occasional mainline jets from G4 and last year AS and UA. Awesome modest growth

Kind of a blip, but with B6 shifting all operations to LAX from LGB in October, PDX-LGB is being discontinued. It will not be replaced with PDX-LAX service, as is the case with AUS, BZN, LAS, RNO, SLC, SFO, and SEA.

Kinda odd that both UA and now B6 are big in LAX yet neither can get PDX to work for them.

I also saw signs on almost all the new jet bridges in Concourse E when running by today.
