also, BLA might announce some new routes from BAY, to BVA and TRN (nothing official yet) and is considering closing IAS base from S21 (S21 schedule was published on their booking system but there are no routes to/from IAS available).

That's a bad news for me personally. I fly often on the route BRU-IAS and the planes are - except for the current period of course - full.

Is it linked to the upgrade of BCM and BLA return there and the fact that - to large extent - it is the same catchment area?

there are some old dating conflicts between BLA and IAS airport for unpaid debts and I think they want to show to IAS airport that BLA will move its ops to another airports in the region if no discounts and other financial facilities will be provided.

Wasnt delivered yet, afaik they have some issues with one of the aircraft engines, ac is yet at Ostrava airport.

OMR is ready to offer incentives to airlines for routes to/from OMR, read more.

There's no need for any subsidy between Oradea and Bucharest.
However, Ryanair couldn't manage to make any money out of a very low frequency route between Oradea and London in 2018 - to achieve a suitable load factor the yield had to be rock bottom. I have a feeling that the subsidy needed will be large to see any new scheduled routes...

The subsidy wont apply to OMR - OTP, i think, but for new international routes and if there are subsidies airlines care a little less about yelds (total up to 1mil EUR but up to 800k EUR/airline)

I guess that means they will discontinue LCA-ATH/SKG. Competition from Wizz Air probably killed this base. This is the second time they failed in Cyprus, I guess this time they are leaving for good.

YR-LCA and YR-LCB, ex-TAROM A310s joined Iran Airtour fleet as EP-MDK and EP-MDL. Initially TAROM sold both aircraft to Armenian Airways Aircompany for 5.5mil USD in 2018.

HiSky now removed online the sale of tickets for September... Prices for October are now well over 100Euro, seems they have lost trust to start operations anytime soon. And many destinations are no longer listed or bookable - wonder what they will do with 3 A320 family a/c. :scratchchin:

Does it mean that they divide the same number of flights between two airports? For instance, will BRU stay in IAS on Wednesday and move to BMC on Saturdays?

BLA doesn't fly to LCA from other Romanian airports, only from OTP.

YR-BMR was ferried on Friday from BBU to OTP and will operate its first flight for BLA on Sunday, to OMR. The aircraft is still wearing Jet Time livery and might be the first NG to be painted into the new BLA livery.

Wizz Air to launch London Luton - Bacau from 1 October instead of 29 October 2020. Route initially is 5x weekly on Wizz Air UK before going daily from Bacau base instead

Currently there are 11 Romanian airports with flights to/from LON and only 9 which have flights to/from OTP

With the recent addition of Oradea, I would say now there is only Arad and Tulcea* left.

* I know the airport hasn't seen any scheduled operations for a long time, only sporadical charters (Switzerland, Austria and France), but the Tulcea County administration has been trying for at least a year to get scheduled service to London, Madrid, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Paris and Milan.
Also just across the Danube from Tulcea, Odessa Oblast administration is working in the rehabilitation of the Izmail Airport for 2021 or 2022, so soon we might seen two airports competing for the same catchment area, taking into account that finally a RO-UA border crossing point was opened in the area last month (Isaccea-Orlivka ferry).

Does Tulcea airport have enough people living nearby (and not near Constanta, Chisinau or Odesa) to support commercial passenger flights ? Their adverts on anna.aero have been running for a lont long time...

I'm dubious that there is a need for Izmail airport right now

Tulcea itself is not that highly populated, but there are a lot of car and minivan shuttle services from the county to Otopeni so I can see some demand there. Also, at the moment, the Danube Delta and its boat tours have quite a lot of potential with tourism, but it's already covered by the occasional charters.

In any case, I can see that starting scheduled service from Tulcea, combined with better communications with Galați and Brăila, like the often proposed bridge, can attract fliers from these two cities without needing to build an all-new airport in Brăila, as some Romanian politicians propose.

Regarding Izmail, I think the plan is to rebuild it and start some regional connections to Kyiv and Odessa, as rail and road connections are not good in the area, but in my opinion it would be better to improve cross-border collaboration and concentrate all possible operations in one airport. But, so far, relations between Romania and Ukraine have never been the best so I doubt this would be possible at the moment.

they have received only 4 ATR 72-600 so far.

Not sure about their int schedule, but definitely only a few routes operated currently: ATH, SKG, AMS, CDG, MUC, IST, LHR, CAI, BRU, MAD, BCN and some (many) charters to GR and TR

Cairo is interesting, are they operating it for transfer passengers or...?

I guess loads must be pretty weak at the moment. The other day I was on FR24 and noticed that they sent the ATR to Vienna.

Operating with A319 by the looks of the online booking system, though no seat showing occupied yet on the 10 flights I looked at. Hope this is not a bad sign, I think their service is way better than Ryanair but similar to Wizz so would be great to see them flying to OTP or CLJ ex UK in the future as well.

Easyjet have tried LGW-OTP but in a crowded market they dropped the route in March 2015. I imagine they would need a good reason (e.g. Blue Air pulling out or going bust) before trying UK- Romania routes again
