LHR-DPS direct flights - enough demand?

Has there ever been non stop flights between these two destinations? It seems Garuda cannot do this route seeing as LHR-CGK is a loss maker for them. However, what about the likes of TUI or Norwegian?

At least from maybe LGW, you would think BA would start seasonal service? How is there not enough demand for a seasonal service?!

The Europe-Southeast Asia market is a race to the bottom besides Singapore and maybe Bangkok. Corruption and government intervention (looking at you, TG/MH/GA) mean there's not much business demand. The ME3, SQ, CX and LCCs duke it out for that market, and I wouldn't be surprised if TK joins the fray. EU legacy carriers are better off focusing on high-yielding markets (China, Singapore, Hong Kong and North America)

No, there wouldn't be enough demand for a direct flight.

The disadvantage of a direct flight is that it only serves the market directly surrounding the departure airport, in your case Heathrow. It would do nothing for the rest of the UK and other European countries. And London, as big as it might be, just isn't big enough.

The rest of the UK and other European countries, if they would want to get to Bali, would need to connect anyway. No matter if it's connecting to this flight or another flight, it's a connection. So to them this flight has no advantage. There are several hub airports on the way with carriers who can do that connection much better and therefor steal away any connecting passengers plus probably a good share of the local demand due to the lower price they can charge. The remaining demand for this flight would be negligible.

KLM can make Denpasar work from Amsterdam for two reasons. First are the colonial ties between the Netherlands and Indonesia, something which the UK doesn't have. Indonesia was a Dutch colony, never a British one. Second is the stop in Singapore on the way. Singapore is where the yields are, the demand for Denpasar alone would never be enough.
