DL116 ATL - STR turning around?

Sun Jan 26, 2020 4:40 am

I just happened to be on FR24 and saw that this flight took a 180 turn over St Pierre and Miquelon. Seems to be heading back towards ATL.

Looks like it. Currently heading to JFK and flying at 12,000 feet.

It's N152DL. First transatlantic flight since it came out of maintenance at ILN on Thursday.

On the ground at JFK now. Might be a medical emergency.

Kind of a distance to fly with a medical emergency. More likely something inop precluding an ETOPS trip. But we won't know until we know, if we ever know.

Another day and another Delta widebody diversion? According to FlightAware they descended as soon as they turned around and flew a long way at 12,000 feet. It might be a pressurization problem. If it was a medical emergency it must not have been much of an emergency since they overflew lots of airports including BOS on the way to JFK.

Apologies, it was supposed to say "Might not". Late night, extremely long shift.

No sweat. Totally understood.

Guess they're confident that whatever-it-was is fixed bc it's gonna fly to ACC tonight...
