Tokyo Run, a documentary of the good old NWA B744 TPAC crossing to NRT.

Sat May 02, 2020 10:46 pm

I was researching old NWA videos on YouTube and found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBBknPhRyjM
A Northwest Airlines B744 pilots retirement last flight from Detroit to Tokyo Narita. Very interesting of the old days of flying the B744 and the layover. Super interesting.

Great video! Really miss seeing the red tails.

On a related note, Detroit-Tokyo service will resume on Wednesday, albeit to HND and not NRT.

A very good film!

I just have one question. Why was his last flight USA - Japan... and not the return leg, Japan - US?

Would it have been normal in Northwest to work one leg?

Not sure. Maybe he wanted to enjoy the ride home, instead of working. It could be that is how his trip pairing ended on that particular bid to stay under the number of hours worked limit. (Flying the trip back would have put him over the monthly limit.)
Is just me, or is flying not as much fun anymore?
