Airbus fuel pumps start amperage

Wed May 06, 2020 12:18 pm

Hi, Everyone.

How Airbus fuel pumps starts after energizing? Do they have soft starter?
May be somebody have technical characterisitcs of A320 fuel pumps. Excpecially, I need APU fuel pump amperage. May be somebody ever seen this detail or have photo, I think its characterisics are printed right on canister.

Acceptable test conditions for an A320 APU fuel pump are "instantaneous starting at each test" and less than or equal to 1.1A during operation

What does it mean - instantaneous ? Is 1-2 seconds enough?
And 1.1A - can you give me reference to documentation on this?

I believe they start relatively instantaneous without delay and observing by ear they start within a fraction of a second. Another way to tell is how quickly they restart when there is a transition in AC source. It’s much easier with the newer version of the fuel pumps to tell by ear because they make a swoosh when they start almost like a hydraulic pump. As for amperage I wish I knew.

2 ears for spatial hearing, 2 eyes for depth perception, 2 ears for balance... How did Boeing think 1 sensor was good enough?!
