Different fiscal stances over the pandemic - Jayati Ghosh

Fri Jun 04, 2021 11:09 pm

Hi all,

Had seen this a few days ago, would be interesting to see what people take note of and any observations they draw from it. The idea is to kick-start a conversation about inequality in the world between the developed world and the developing economies, including the Global South and Latin America. -

This is just the status quo in action. The lion’s share of capital resources is in basically twelve countries. Everyone else gets scraps and leftovers depending on how open they are with market/resource access to the US/EU/China.

On the money but still it was good that she bought it all out and especially the whole capital controls/capital management bit that was interesting. Even the people's vaccine, IP stuff, capital flight going back to U.S. pretty interesting. I knew most of what she had shared but the way she integrated the whole presentation blew my mind. About the 'New Green Deal' that was something I didn't know much about. The conflicts of interests of rating agencies is again known but not talked about much either. So, it was refreshing to see it all being laid down in the open.

Is there a summary text or copy of the slides?
I didn't find the presentation engaging, but I'd like to see the data.
