Former Democratic Senator Harry Reid has died at the age of 82 after a four year battle with cancer. He also served as Nevada lieutent governor in the 1970's. Sad to see such a man with an impressive legacy pass away.

I will bite my tounge on most of what I want to say about this divisive horrible example of an elected official. I do remember one of my first years in Laughlin he was here campaigning and he tried to enter the property to grease palms where I rented before I bought my condo. The owner of the development was a woman and she promptly told him we was not wanted on her land. I am glad Harry Reid is no longer able to pollute our discourse any more and yes Harry Mitt Romney paid his taxes Harry.

I like the way he dumped the 60% Senate rule for Federal Court Judicial appointees. That allowed him to stack the DC Court of Appeals but also allowed Trump to pick the next 3 Supreme Court justices...what a fool. I wonder if o'l numb-nuts Chuck Schumer will do the same with the Senate filibuster, thereby giving the other side free rein when their turn comes.

Harry Reid was a good Senator, who clued in far before others, that the power structure in DC was being tilted away from the people, and manipulated by disingenuous people. . His politics were not always mine, but he knew how to fight.

That consensus approach wasn’t done solely for the good of the individual lawmakers who made up Reid’s caucus. It was smart politics. Reid allowed members of his caucus a voice in decisions and preferred to have the more camera-hungry senators in the party do Sunday TV show hits; a decision that garnered their loyalty. Using consensus came alongside a philosophy that believed some conflict was necessary, a carryover from Reid’s days as a boxer. And maintaining good relationships across the party, from the White House to Senate staff, gave Reid insight into the party’s future that others in Democratic leadership lacked.

There is nothing in the Constitution in favor of a filibuster so those of you righties dancing on Ried's grave over getting rid of the filibuster, think again. And just remember this thread when a Republican dies. "But we would never do that...." save it. Harry Reid was a right wing Democrat. So what? Other Democrats and "liberals" are not flocking in to call him names. They are letting the family mourn and letting history judge.

No Joe Manchin is a right wing democrat. Harry Reid was an opportunistic self serving charlatan who didn't lead or legislate. He threw mud and tried to move the goal posts instead of getting bi-partisan legislation passed. He would have gone ahead with court packing when he saw his move backfired and if he believed Manchin would play ball. He was underhanded and nothing the media is making him out to be because he has passed away. Politics is better without him.
