I take it this is not the American Eagle I am thinking of... but
The Reg# ends in PA, so was this somekind of Pan Am thing or just a seperate airline?
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, it was an entirely different carrier from AE of today. That American Eagle had 2 ex-Pan Am 707-321B...N402PA & N404PA. They lasted just about a year in the early '80s. Regards.

Here is a little more information if you are interested.
The airline was originally formed as Militair-to operate military charters from West Germany to the Carribean and the US. Shortly thereafter it began a New York-JFK to Frankfurt route. It moved into some leisure markets and also provided aircraft for the annual haj pilgrimage to Mecca. They received the authority to operate scheduled services but suspended operations in April of 1981.
All that comes from the book "Deregulation Knockouts".

Boy, that's a great title for a book. Sums it up all in one. Who is the author? I would like to read that because there are really only two carriers in the US that have really flourished that were created as a result of deregulation.

The complete title is:
"Deregulation Knockouts: Round One" and it is by Tom W. Norwood.
I got it off Amazon.com a couple years back. I am eagerly awaiting round 2. Heaven knows he might even be able to get Round 3 out of the past few years as well!
The book covers the years 1978 to 1989.

Just wanted to point out that SWA was already flying prior to deregulation. If you want to quote a passenger airline that is a result of deregulation and has florished, that would be America West.
