LCCs That We Never Flew 2000-2003

Hey guys, Mike here again. With Topics like Southwest vs JetBlue. And others about LCCs, I thought it would be kinda fun to ask you all, "Which LCCs didnt you Fly?"

But, to keep this from getting way way overboard, because i realize that there have been 100s on LCCs since Deregulation, i add this little stipulation, The LCC, must be from 2000 to 2003  Smile

One Airline in particular that i can mention here is:

Sun Country, While im pretty sure this airline is an LCC, im not to sure if they are still flying. I remember in the 1990s they Flew DC-10s and 727s and where prior to 9/11 flying 737s.

I never flew Vanguard, JetBlue, or Sun Country, because they never had revenue service to Houston. Sun Country would fly a 727 or DC-10 down here to IAH sometimes for charters, but no JetBlue or Vanguard service. There are other LCCs out there that I can't remember the names of now that I never flew between 2000-03, but the only two LCCs I flew on in that time period however are Southwest and AirTran.

We never flew FreshAer.

I worked at the TW ticket counter in MDW which we shared with Mark Air. I remember how interesting the Mark Air passengers were. It was also very interesting the morning Mark Air shut down in the fall of 1995.

I also had the pleasure (spring of 98 at ORD) of informing a Pan Am II crew ( actually they were all ex-Carnival and it was a Carnival B737) that after passenger deplaning I had both the Chicago Police Department and a rep of the leasing company to reposess the aircraft, and escort them away as PanAm II had ceased operations. Truly a sad moment to be a part of.

Sun Country was purchased by MN Airlines, LLC and operates a number of flights from MSP to primarily leisure destinations (particularly Laughlin, NV) with those beautiful 737s (the 727s and DC-10s no longer operate...at least I don't think so!).

In a stark contrast to yourself, Mike, and many others in a.net, I have never flown either WN nor B6 (my location at MSP makes this an obvious improbability in the near future  Sad).
I plan on living forever. So far, so good...

I never flew Southwest, Airtran, Song, Jetblue, Hooters, or any other LCC. Why? NONE OF THEM PROVIDE SERVICE TO CAE! AAAGH. When, oh when, will get another LCC into Columbia to replace KKB.

I have never flewn on an LCC. I was tempted to fly Air Europa and Ryanair, but Chose Aer Lingus and Iberia instead. I flew American for most of my travel. I don't like LCCs

I'm glad I flew Vanguard and National during this time frame, both out of MDW. On N7 I was lucky to be able to overnight in Las Vegas on the way back from a California business trip to SFO; I stayed up all night and won about $900, and had a room at Harrah's. I never slept and essentially paid $65 for a shower.

But it was an experience I'll never forget, and before WN had MDW-OAK n/s, National to SFO was the best option available to me and my coworker. ($400 on N7 vs $1500-$2000 on AA and UA for ORD-SFO.) The overnight in LAS on the way home was icing on the cake! I miss N7 but with WN having 7 non-stops MDW-LAS now, plus 3 MDW-OAK dailies, all is well for me today. TZ fills most service gaps around the country.

How is WN's service to LAS from MDW doing. I ask because every day that I work the 2 LAS flights in the afternoon/evening, that my connecting passengers may get on, are always full. ATA has now had to put the 753 on the route to deal with the loads.

The only US LCC I've been on was AirTran - Delta Express doesn't really count, its not a proper LCC.
