Tell that someone in the Bible Belt where in some counties it is still unlawful to hang washed male and female underwear on the same line.

Odd since the Bible goes on and on about sexual immorality (those words), nakedness, virgins, and infidelity...

You can imagine three maintenance teams at the airport, one team gets F-GSUN another team gets F-GSEA and the lucky team gets F-GSEX, the real question is what team ends their work day with a smile on their face  Big grin

JAC for JACques Mailliot, founder and former CEO of "Nouvelles Frontières", the T.O owner of Corsair.

okay for F-HJAC for Jacques Maillot
so what about F-HBIL, the other A330 of Corsair

Not very sexy, but there's a PH-COP which is actually a police plane. I'm sure there must be many more funny regs.

Hi all,

Great topic!!

I'm still waiting for those great Polish reg's, SP-ERM and SP-UNK!!

The Candadian one C-UNTS will for sure never be released, and I-FxxK would be a classic to be preserved at all costs!!

Cheers,

LM

I was going to add a link to the TF-SEX aircraft, but apparently FlySSC beat me to it (see reply 30)  Smile

Regarding other funny registrations, Fischer Air has three 737-300's with the registrations OK-FUN, OK-FAN and OK-FIT

Sterling European Airlines operate a number of 737-800's registered using the OY-SE* series. They haven't quite gotten to the X yet (sorry no OY-SEX) but they do have an OY-SEA.

I know some people who found this registration quite appropriate...

This plane flew the leader of the Conservative Party around during the last election, and I believe a 'git' is slang for an annoying person. You'd think someone on his team might have noticed this!  Big grin

There will never be a Canadian C-Uxxx because CU is assigned to Cuba. That country has registrations like CU-T1234 so there will never be a CU-NTS either.
Getting back to Italy - Meridiana has an I-SMEL, Alitalia an I-DAWG and Eurofly an I-EEZI.
In Botswana Moremi Air Services has`an A2-ZED.
Air Berlin has D-ABBA

Are there any rules that regulate the aircraft regos. I mean the only airline I know with "cool" registrations is Virgin. Everybody else just uses the mix of letters and numbers. So was th question about this particularv rego ever raised? I mean may be someone thought it was inappropriate.

I am not sure if it is particularly cool - but I like Aer Lingus' registrations....named after airports they serve. Not all, but some....

EI-CRK
EI-DUB

EI-JFK
EI-ORD

I am sure there are more - but you get the picture....

This is your captain speaking. I’ve turned off the no-smokin’ sign. Hell, if the plane is smokin' why can't you?

I always liked Corsair because they gave me my only opprotunity to go aboard a 747-SP, do they still fly them? The aircraft in question, an ex-Royal Air Maroc bird, had high density seating that didn't look very comfortable-even in business class, a side galley that was rather unusual and bunks for the crew. Not sure of the registration but, a neat bird. F-GSEX did make it to OAK as well, off hand I can't remember if she is a -300 or a -400. I miss the CDG/OAK/PPT routing; it gave OAK a much more international flavor than do our current mix of Mexicana and Azteca (happy to see both of them too of course!)
The topic makes me curious about Corsair's history. Anyone know when it started, how it got it's name etc? Also, what fleet it has had over the years?

There actually is a HB-SEX... which is a red single-engine prop...

BA's G-YMML (B772) should be the plane that flies to Melbourne. But since that route is operated by Jumbos it doesn't...

EasyJet's ex-Go Fly B733 G-IGOR is another nice one  Smile
