AS 900ER's will have Recaro slimline seats. I've only heard rumors as to whether the older planes will be converted to the Recaro's.

Does anyone know how much effort it would be to droop the ailerons on the 737's? It seems that could be relatively low hanging fruit to get a bit more low speed lift and reduce the angle of attack at takeoff.

I know it's easier to do with fly-by-wire systems but I believe it has been done with hydraulic systems.

That is exactly how it works, I do believe... the 737-800SFP and 737-900ER have flaps configuration changes - not all new flaps.

So the 737-800SFP is great - but, for example, UA has a limited number. That's why they're redeploying the A320 to some Caribbean fields that they were flying 73Gs to, needed more seats, but didn't have enough SFPs to deploy a 738.

The A320, on the other hand, can have software loaded up to make it happen.

Also my previous post was based on a cursory examination of the ACAP. I'm an engineer, but not that kind of engineer, so i could be wrong.

All about perception but dont forget that the 737 is much shorter. If youre in the front cabin the curvature of the fuselage is very noticible. The overhead bins are smaller right up front and they "canter" in. Youll never see this on the 57 because you have that big galley between the front cabin and the cockpit. Not to mention the mid galley. Also, the lower lobe is different on the 57.

Where exactly will the 900ER be flying from ANY of those cities to which they will meet MTOW?? Before that they will bulk out on bags. Most of the weight comes from fuel and the tanks arent near full to id say 90% of the destinations that will be served. Take of performance is a separate issue because if its hot enough, there could be 100 people on board and only about 60 bags and there could be a potential problem (for various reasons).

Isn't the true king of the NBs the 757-300, with winglets it has a range of almost 3600nm, a whooping 289 seats in a one class cabin..Even if its an old dog, it still must be a decent CASM on that bird?

Very, very good. Every operator who has them today loves them to death, even you though have to have rather dense routes to fill them up.

But the market timing was horrible. If the 757-300 had been available in the 1980s, it would have replaced a lot of DC-8s, DC-10s, and L-1011s. By the time it actually came out, the customers who needed it mostly had new 767s already, and while the 757-300 is better than a 767 for missions it can fly, it's probably not better enough to prematurely dump a relatively new airplane.
