AF Plans For New J Seats on LAX-PPT?

What are AF's plans to put new J class seats on LAX-PPT sector?

As 772 fleet is refit they will certainly make it down to Tahiti eventually. Last I saw the 777 cabin program runs until 2017.

It the same plane it stops in LAX between PPT and CDG.

I think Air Tahiti Nui has a lot of fare sales and limits how much air france can charge on PPT-LAX-CDG in business and economy I bet.

PPT is not on the 2015 list of destinations with the BEST cabins, so it means it will be for 2016.
LAX will have the new product (J/W/Y) on AF072/069 from July 6, 2015.

That's a really amazing flight. It means crossing two oceans and three continents!
I've checked different routes and LAX is the most efficient stop. I couldn't make it any shorter (using GCMap)

Absolutely no reason to fly such an insanely long flight even if it were possible. This plane is a less than daily, all leisure traffic plane that flies long distances over oceans, and i bet you every single person appreciates the chance to walk around in LAX. Very few places to refuel if you hit heavy winds over the pacific. This is not a major o&d route they need an extra city to ensure consistent loads.

I believe so, yes. Visa restrictions would apply, and visa-waiver travelers would need to complete ESTA.

By the end of the summer 15 season, next routes will be served with BEST equipped B777 :

North America : LAX, IAD, YYZ, JFK
South America : GRU
Africa : BGF, DLA, LBV, NSI, SSG
Middle East : BEY, DXB
Asia : PEK, CAN, CGK, PVG, SIN, HND

18 destinations served by 21 BEST equipped B777.

By the end of 2016, 44 B777 will be BEST equipped!

So, a little more to wait to see AF682 as a BEST flight!

I've booked a PVG - CDG flight with AF in late September - AF111 (that day by a B773) , but it seems (as per seat map) that flight still has the old seat? Does only the other CDG flight has the best product yet/then?

PS loved the BEST product, had it in Dec to Singapore and it was by far the BEST business class experience I've ever had !

Unfortunately, no ATL in 2015. Here is the detailed list of BEST deployment for 2014/2015. Changes or delays are syptill possible of course

- 5 B777 end 2014
- 26 B777 end 2015 (so 21 retrofitted in 2015)
- 44 B777 end 2016 (so 18 retrofitted in 2016)

LAX is served by 2 to 3 daily flights. One of those is continuing some days to PPT. So if LAX is served with the new cabins, it doesn't mean that PPT have them. But if PPT have BEST, then LAX has it obviously. But again, no BEST to PPT in 2015.

I am not sure why there is a confusion.
If all flights from CDG into LAX are BEST equipped, then PPT will also be BEST equipped.
But if AF is saying PPT will not be BEST equipped in 2015, then one of the 777s from CDG into LAX will not be BEST equipped because that aircraft will continue to PPT.

When I went to school, the middle of the Pacific Ocean almost 4,000 miles northeast of Australia (where PPT is located) wasn't considered a continent. The continent was Australia itself.
