Sat May 23, 2015 7:41 pm

the article says that they are starting this summer but it doesn't appear on the airports websites or swissairs website.

First of all, it is SWISS not Swissair (and for 13 years now).

Second, LTT was rumoured (as per the article you linked) but LX never announced it. Presumably because it requires extra training, perfect weather and LTT is very much prone to diversions in case of bad weather.

LX therefore announced GVA-BIQ instead of GVA-LTT. BIQ will be operated by Austrian Q400s as would have LTT, had it been launched.

Highly unlikely. The runway is only 3.900 ft.

That's right, LTT used to see regular flights with Flybaboo. At some point Airlinair also flew NCE-LTT with an ATR...

The flights were scheduled and loaded in all distribution systems but never opened for sale thereafter.

Flybaboo Q400 had sometimes to divert to TLN when they could not land at LTT.

Having driven past LTT during holidays on the Cote d'Azur, I'd sure as hell like to see a commercial aircraft land there.

That, at least, makes some sense. The drive down the D559 is a nightmare during the summer, even if you took the A8 to Frejus or continued to the D25 to Ste-Maxime. The last stretch down past Port Grimaud is just one long queue.

I know it is really bad the traffic between St Maxine and ST Tropez . Many people now just park in ST Maxine and take the ferry from there to get to ST Tropez.

If I remember correctly, LX has already served LTT in the 90's.
Offcourse it was Crossair then with the Saab 2000.

Here is a video of a FlyBaboo flight from St Tropez- La Môle to Geneva back in 2010

It was from GVA. Found it in the timeline about half way down here. See the 1994 entry. It was seasonal, summer only.

The later 2008-2013 service mentioned further down would have been the Flybaboo seasonal service.

Well, as you know LTT is about 16 km southwest from St Tropez. You can't completely avoid the traffic jam when flying there, in particular the intersection near Port Cogolin is bad during the high season.
How popular is the heli service from NCE(about 64 km)? -for those with more or less unlimited resources of course!
