Are there any more details publicly available, it seems like the website is blocked outside of the US?

"Caravan jets" LOL. Yeah, I know.

Glad to see them going but ELP to MEM in a C208? I'll pass.

I know their big selling point now is 9 passengers, no tsa. But, I think they have bigger plans in the LOng thought they are still pitching the small hassIe free model for now. Ialso know that when they offered game day charters to certain SEC games last year, they used bigger leased jets in some instances. I know they are eying Branson and Northwest Arkansas. I really feel seasonals from NWA to the Gulf Coast would be a hit. I can see them using a King Air for longer routes. I can see them picking up some refurbed Beechcraft 1900D and Q200 type equipment when they decide to go bigger in the future.

There was a nice story earlier this year in the online magazine Bitter Southerner about Southern Airways Express if you want a little more background on the operation and its origins: http://bittersoutherner.com/fly-me-t...lf-southern-airways/#.VW2szc9Viko.

They are right about getting repeat business. I have a friend that's using them a bunch.

It will be interesting to see what they have planned. They've been interesting to watch, but since their founding they have flown a relatively changeable schedule, both from day to day during the week and from season to season. Quite a few route changes. And while there are certainly some business ties between the Memphis area and the gulf coast, their most consistent market from Memphis to the coast isn't seemingly focused on business travel.

Their addition of Atlanta / DeKalb Airport certainly has promise for business travel. But here's their schedule from Memphis for a week I picked in mid July:

1910 - 2155 Sunday (departs Olive Branch Airport)
0905 - 1145 Monday (departs Memphis International)
0805 - 1045 Tuesday (departs Memphis International)
1325 - 1605 Wednesday (departs Olive Branch Airport)
1200 - 1440 Thursday (departs Memphis International)
1400 - 16:40 Friday (departs Memphis International)

It's not without merit...morning flights early in the week are often favored by people starting their business travel week, and afternoon returns later in the week for people coming back home. But it's a pretty thin schedule and lacks the consistency frequent travelers value -- if the client can meet me on Tuesday this time but next time it's a Thursday I can't count on the schedule. And the split between the two Memphis airports isn't friendly, either. Quirks like this limit their potential market, and while they only need a tiny amount of traffic to fill their planes, I would highly doubt they never have an empty seat.

Their ambitions are curious...to mention El Paso and Charleston SC as west and east limits makes me smile a bit. Can't imagine they'll fly nonstop from MEM to either given the distance, so one would think they are imagining markets to reach ELP and CHS from intermediate points.

Certainly interesting to watch, and there is a definitely gap in serving business traffic in smaller markets. Curious to see if they find a way to successfully serve a segment of that market.

area ELP to the east, not operating nonstop MEM ELP flights (whih would have 1 person a week maybe).

Maybe have two caravans going: ELP-MAF-ABI-DAL-SHV-MEM-CHA-AHN-CHS and vv lol. JK of course, but that would be fun to do for a day......
Riddle: Which lasts longer, a start-up airline or a start-up football league?

I can certainly see Memphis to Branson from April to Jan on a two to three times weekly basis.

A late April to Labor Day Fayetteville to Destin at the 2 to 3 times weekly would be popular. Not sure about being a Caravan from there though. I could see New Orleans service from there as well. The terminal at Drake Field in Fayetteville is still there and would meet the no TSA standard.. I could see Friday and Sunday flights to StL.
