Their incredible record-breaking quarterly earnings are so common that it took all day for someone to even post it! LOL

Regardless, amazing results by my favorite airline. Keep up the great work!

What is so impressive about southwest is that they are so consistent and able to do this WITHOUT charging for bags or a change fee. They keep customers happy over and over. They will once again be the ones still making money when market conditions change, just watch

haha   ill bite. Yeah they could certainly make more money but they choose to keep customers happy and loyal instead. southwest is the domestic king........long live the ability to change tickets, check bags, and redeem miles

A couple of fleet notes from the 8K just filed with the SEC:
* Year end fleet count planned for 700, up 11 frames from the current 689
* An additional 6 738s and 8 73Gs are scheduled for delivery by year end
* That means 3 more classics will be retired in 2015
* 2016 fleet planned to grow 2%, so that means 714 (if frames, not seats)
* 31 738s and 13 73Gs are scheduled for delivery in 2016
* That would allow for ~30 classic retirements--enough to retire all of the 735s and non-wingletted 733s.

I wonder if these would be the first 73Gs (in addition to the usual 738/739s) to be outfitted with the BSI interior.

Man, Southwest sure have fallen in love with their 738's ,

Kinda like AA's infatuation with their A321's.

I was under the impression that WN was only taking used 73G's and was actively swapping their Boeing orders to 738s.

Now, I was also under the impression that the BSI was only a new build option, and not retrofittable. If that's not the case, then they could very well be the first 73G's delivered with the BSI.

Correct--all 73Gs are used. They have commitments to take 31 73Gs 2016-2018.

Probably almost same RASM as 73G's and they seat more pax...so a lower LF to break even.

Wow dude, coolaid enough? Prasm is down considerably, and pilots are ready to burn the place down if they don't get a big cut from this which management is obviously reluctant being they have encroaching competition from AS/NK/B6/ and to a lessor extent VX. All with most casm.

Mark my words, and a little Google search will verify. Management has said bag fees are still on the table. They have a uphill battle with costs and competition. Let's also not fall into the hype with bag fees. They tell you they aren't charging for bags, but the charge is going to bag fees, is a hidden fee. I looked online for a Vegas flight, and I found them over $50 more on average compared to other airlines with bag fees. There is your bag fee right there! The $50 bucks more! The new interiors are still sub par compared to competitors. And I know for fact the only reason there are no bag fees for now is cause their reservation system has been unchanged for decades and have antiquated it systems compared to their peers. When they upgrade it if they choose to eventually bag fees will arrive quicker than a Texas summer wind. Until then, the fares will be rarely able to meet other lcc fares.

So please then explain how is it possible that their res system is so outdated that they cannot changer for bag. It is a fact that they currently charge for the 3rd bag and beyond. They also charge for over weight and oversized bags. Help me understand this.

He can't...he just repeats the tired old argument all the naysayers have been saying for years about WN's lack of charging for bags.
