SYD T2 And T3 History Questions

My attempts at locating data regarding the history of both of these terminals did not produce much in the way of specifics. Perhaps someone reading this can offer a personal perspective?
I was able to find some pics (that I can't download here) on that showed some partial shots of these terminals from the early 1980s, that did reveal a little. The "focus" of these pics was of course on the aircraft - and not the terminal building.
What follows is information on these terminals that I have been able to find. Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of it.
Additional information would be appreciated.

T2 / former Ansett terminal:
I had read somewhere that the Ansett terminal had once been a hangar. If so, when was this hangar refurbished to become a passenger terminal?
Photos from the early 1980s show what appears to be an organized cube like terminal building with red aero bridges and a (very) few shaded windows.
This terminal also appears to have a corrugated exterior - as a hangar would have had. From the outside it looked quite nice and functional.
Today's T2, pier A (Virgin side) basic configuration actually looks very similar to the terminal I've just described - updated of course and with more windows.
Are these two structures in fact one in the same?
T2, pier B (Jetstar side) looks to be a very different style construction, more modern. I'm assuming that this pier was built later, perhaps along with the huge elevated roadway project between T2 and T3 that preceded the 2000 Olympic games? Can anyone verify that?

T3 / former TAA terminal:
This terminal appears to originate from an overseas terminal that was built on this location in 1954. Domestic flights continued to operate from the 1940 building that continues to stand today beneath the roadway connecting T2 and T3.
The TAA terminal appears to have been upgraded in 1974 to include aero bridges and other facilities. Its very colourful exterior with port hole windows differed greatly from the Ansett terminal.
The terminal was completely rebuilt in the mid/late 1990s as part of the SA2000 project.
Can anyone offer more insight to this terminal prior to this renovation?

Both terminals were rebuilt in the late '90s. T3 was basically rebuilt from scratch though a little bit of the old terminal remains down near Gate 17. The old TAA terminal was very cramped.

The AN terminal building was completely rebuilt about 1999 with departures and arrivals separated but the main pier carried over. The B pier was built in the early '90s and the old Golden Wing was located between the two (basically where the food court is now).

T1 was opened on its current site in 1970/71. It had a single Y shaped pier with 17 gates IIRC [I very well may not about the number of gates!]. The departure level of the pier was open to the public to its very end, I have some QF, BA & PA B707s slides taken from there. The terminal was extended south in the late 80/early 90s? Internally it has been rearranged many, many times.
Hope this brief summary helps, there must be more knowledge post on here.

This is correct but a bit misleading when going back to original AN/TN terminals. Neither were as big as the current terminals, had jet bridges or many facilities at all. Going through the gates you walked out onto the tarmac into a small fenced off area (AN terminal, don't remember for TN terminal), from here you went through a literal gate in the fence and walked to your aircraft and up the stairs, umbrellas were provided in wet weather.

The AN terminal was on the southern side of the loop road and at the east end (more or less) of the current site. Between there and the road turn was a separate Airlines of NSW terminal that later got folded into the AN terminal. I also think I remember a cargo shed in there too.

The TN terminal was on the west end of the road loop and compared to the current QF terminal it was tiny and as spartan as the AN terminal. On the north side of the road loop was the international terminal also very spartan but with Customs/Immigration facilities. Beyond the international terminal were two or three QF hangers which T3 has expanded into. The International Terminal was moved to its current site in 1970/71 and TN started its expansion into the old site.

I remember the open air observation deck at the eastern end of the old TAA terminal ... many happy hours spent there as a teenager watching and photographing the movements and the East West Friendships that would park immediately in front of it. There was of course the little old control tower thingy that was attached to the terminal above that observation deck.
Even more hours were spent at the far eastern end of the Ansett terminal, taking photos and listening to my Sony Walkman... I wonder what happened to all those guys who used to planespot there with me?
I remember the reconstruction of both terminals. Ansett was first, with a massively expanded and very elaborate terminal befitting their contemporary owners and their vision of what Ansett's image was. The Australian Airlines/TAA/Qantas domestic rebuild was a little later and probably just as extensive, but to me seemed slightly less opulent and less 'user friendly' for a planespotter like me.
Also, the rail link was built around this time, with the underground domestic station built between the two terminals and connected by underground pedestrian tunnels.
i have lots of photos of the terminals, inside and out. All are on 35mm film. I still take photos of most airport terminals' interiors and exteriors as I travel.

PS: Yes, an Ansett hangar backing onto the road was used as part of the terminal. It was turned into a valet parking / roadside check in facility but at some point was rebuilt as part of the terminal proper. From memory a similar facility was built from scratch at the eastern end of the Qantas domestic terminal as well ...
Plus of the course, the dual level road way was built in the 90s, and what traffic hell that created during construction! But then again, due to the constraints of the precinct, any road way or terminal construction work always created delays and frustrations for motorists...

This post is bringing back plenty of memories the port hole windows for some reason I remember well. The East West friendships.
I remember the international terminal was brown on the exterior, compared to terminals now it was an eyesore.

Wow I wish I could relate to all this, one downside of being born in the mid 90's is missing being able to live through this history which I'm sure was monumental at the time

In side it was cream & green, a pretty standard Commonwealth colour scheme. Pretty depressing, even for a 16 year old off on his first international flight!
