Assuming that this is another battery related incident its good to know that the"box" held and the fire didn't spread. However is this the permanent fix for this issue? Surely they can't have an ULH frame prone to random electrical fires, it would make a mockery of the ETOPS system.

For me, the only good thing here is that the aircraft landed safely...

Bit too soon to be making assumptions

That is a big assumption at this stage. There are all sorts of things that could cause a fire indication, and most wouldn't be 787 related.

Smoke has been reported aboard (though not officially confirmed).

Now on the BBC news website for Scotland : Here

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-29377379

Seems to be pretty standard disembark with aircraft at terminal so one assumes no fire on board, perhaps just a false warning, lets hope so!!!

I dont see any report of the aircraft bursting into flames , so I think the answer would be NO.

And I smell a false alarm from a faulty sensor, happens far more regularly than a battery fire....Even on a 787.

Indeed, I am sure one happens every day somewhere in the world ... however if it is something and something that's happened before ........ !

If this had been on any other type of plane it wouldn't have made the news. I suspect its a faulty sensor or a sensory that got hot for some other reason
