How's Service Onboard Air China?
Since it seems that CA may join STAR ALLIANCE in the near future, how's their service compared those of other STAR airlines?
My guess -- like United domestic??

I been on an Air China B 747-400Combi to Beijing. The service was ok. But the plane wasn't very clean
Interestingly, the food was ok too.
However, my grandma told me that it has already improved for 100 times.
Well, United Domestic? I don't think you can compare Air China with UAL can you? Just to be realistic. UAL is a first class airline while Air China has just started improving......... With great speed.

My business partner described Air China as the flying "Roach Motel". Apparently the airplanes are quite filthy from his viewpoint, told me he saw roaches on the meal carts and some crawling on the floors while waiting in line to use the lav. Also heard of people ripping up their passports and flushing them down the lav prior to arrival at YVR. (a means to help filing for political asylum I believe, if you are "stateless")
Me tink's I'd rather take China Airlines or Cathay Pacific instead. (G)

I've flown Air China once. The service was so so.
The flight attendants were not very friendly.
Try not to tick them off.

My boss, who is Chinese (though living in the USA for 10 years now) has told me several times not to take Air China for the reasons already mentioned: dirty planes, rude crew, bad food, questionable safety, lack of "Western" comforts, etc. Oddly enough, she takes them at least once or twice a year to China and Asia - usually justifying it by saying they're the cheapest.

In all fairness, Air China's safety record on international
flights is very good. I might be wrong, but I think there has not
been any single passenger fatalities with them.
You just need to put up with the poor service and
dirty cabin.
