350D: Deleting Directories?

Tue Dec 27, 2005 1:20 am

When I connect my 350D to my laptop and download pictures using Windows Explorer the camera seems to have several directories on it (101CANON, 102CANON etc). How do I get rid of them after downloading the pictures? The camera is set not to reset the image numbers, and after I download pictures it only puts new pics in the last directory and creates new ones if I shoot lots. I have tried the delete all on the camera and from the PC and neither works.
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

Format your card after you download all your images.

I think the folders may be re-created even if you format the card. Your photo's are numbered sequentially and stored in folders of 100, 1-100 in folder 100CANON, 101-200 in 102CANON, etc. I'm sure I've reformatted my card several times and I've just checked, the empty folders are still there.

I dont know if this will be the same on the 350D but on the 20D you have two options everytime you format the card or totally remove the images from the card, to restart the file numbering system or continue where it left off. I had mine set to reset everytime the card was formatted.

It is just the camera numbering system as someone has stated.
