Seoul Spotting/photography

Fri May 27, 2016 9:04 am

Can anyone advise what it's like at Incheon and Gimpo for photography ?

Looking to include Seoul in a trip soon and want to make sure it will be worth the effort.

Thanks in advance.

A simple internet search yields results. I am sure you can do the rest.

Yer, I did the simple internet search and got all the info that's currently out there, it's just that the most current info is 2 years old. Was hoping that maybe there was someone who had been there recently, with updated information.

Hi,

I was in ICN a couple of months ago, and used that guide in spotterguide.net as a starting point. A couple of observations though:

- Spot 1 is quite a large area, you can be as close or as far to the airport fence as you want. I would recommend to keep your distance as I was asked to leave by security personnel and I was some 20 - 30 meters from the airport perimeter wall. I would guess that if you are next to the road it would be fine. Not mentioned in the guide is that you can reach both this spot as well as spot 2 - afternoon arrivals, park - by using the free hotels shuttle bus.

- Spot 3 (Sky Deck) is a very nice location, but usable only during the winter, as you're really far away and heat haze IS an issue. If you want to venture there, be aware that the bus stop is NOT "Paradise Hotel", but this one:

Also, very important, the bus that takes you to the sky deck departs from the ARRIVALS level of the terminal. Confusingly enough, the same bus also stops in the same bus stop on the departures level, but it will take you to Incheon city! Don't ask how I know...

Cheers,

Miguel

Miguel,

Thanks for that, very handy to know. Definitely looking at going in the cooler months to avoid the haze and rains.

Did you try Gimpo at all ?

Thanks again.

I did see his report and it sounds encouraging, but conversely, I also saw another report where it said that photography was forbidden at Gimpo. I shall continue my research !

Considering there are recent photos taken at Gimpo on the database, photography is possible!

I didn't try Gimpo as I only had a couple of days and didn't want to waste time travelling between Incheon and Gimpo, so I can't help there.

Anyhow I would absolutely recommend Incheon if you have the chance!

Thanks guys, it looks positive and worth the effort. Think Seoul will be locked in and need to fill in the other blanks.
