UA 747 At Boston

Sat Jun 30, 2001 12:07 am

I have an old postcard that shows an aerial overview of Logan and one of the aircraft in the picture is a United Airlines 747 (with a livery that I believe was replaced in the 70s). Does anyone know if and when in the 70s United operated scheduled 747 service from BOS, and if so, where did they fly to?

I suspect (but don't recall positively) that United operated B747s on a regular basis to Los Angeles and San Francisco when they first got them, before using DC-10s on those routes. But I remember for sure that during a strike, United was operating one or more B747s between Boston and O'Hare to try to clear out the backlog of people who had been canceled out of their flights by the strike.
