Terminal 5B & 5C gates taken from G-EUOC, operating BA940 to DUS, as we lift off rw27R. In all seriousness - is the 744 in the bottom left of the frame served by the world's longest airbridge?

I think this is best and biggest show of British Airways with all 747's and 777.
Best picture of LHR

Why couldn't they extend the terminal building instead of using that long jetway?

I would think it is as well! Haha that aerobridge seems to go on forever!

Am I dreaming or is this the BA Terminal ? :)

Why on earth did they stop half way with that building? Why must u have those ugly long airbridges? Illogical and highly uncomfortable. LHR will never make it to the top quality airports.

Probably a tiring walk for the passengers to their plane..haha

Was just wondering the same... Maybe passengers are called 30 min before the aircraft arrives to get on board on time?! :P

Lots of British Airways planes

Definitely, but why is it only on the left side?

The heavys of LHR:) great picture 5*

This is actually an ingenious idea, to make the pax workout and tired before they board, resulting in a much quieter flight and less problems! Bravo!

Illustrates how big BA acually is. So many destinations with so many heavies.
I'm wondering if they were not allowed to build a bigger terminal cos of regulations and got round it by long bridges?

200m? This is 400m at least. Hilarious. Are pax warned before they start boarding? Is there a snack shop half way? Or a toilet?

That's indeed a pretty long airbridge! The picture is awesome, a great overview! No question... a 5 star rating, the best picture I've seen here since weeks!

I wonder if there is a moving walkway inside that jetway.

It saves on fuel - you see, by the time you actually board your aircraft you're already halfway to your destination.

Fantastic angle of some great ships. I've used that jetbridge on arrival from New York on a BA 747 - it didn't seem that long from the inside!

Fantastic shot! Using Google Earth, the long jetway measures just over 95 meters!!

They can't force you to walk such a long way!! I hate T5, it looks great, but..I don't know....There's something....

Must be a long but fun walk through those very very long aerobridges

The longest air bridge in the world is not the most impressive thing on that picture. The most strange thing is that two stands are not conected with satelite terminal with air bridge.

The long bridge is seriously one of the first things you notice when looking at the picture great observation everybody

Actually theres 14 B744's, 8 B777's, and 4 B763's. You can clearly tell the difference between the B773 and the B763

Great to see that some of us here can count so well, not really sure though why it is impresseive that a stand does not have a airbridge.

Great shot! Love it!
Some info: When the terminal was designed, prior to 9/11, the building was much bigger than this. It extended the full length in front of all aircraft that you see in this picture. After 9/11, SARS etc... they scaled down the satellite buildings of T5. However, they then realized that demand for air travel was on the increase again, they took the cheap option and just added stupidly long air-bridges and walk ways instead of reverting to the original plans.

A 747's wing span is 64.4 meters, this walk way is about 200 meters in my estimate. Not too long, considering it'll take Usain Bolt only 19.19 seconds~!

They should have built another aerobridge for the 744 in front of that long aerobridge :p

Typical LHR indeed, no really thought out before starting and fix with a "curious" solution :).

To our Spanish friend, will explain a bit about distance to you. A 747 is lets say 75m. the bridge (if you can call it that even) is about 2.5-3 747's, so you do the math and see if it is closer to 200 or 400.

In a world where the only airline is BA!
Seriously though that jetbridge is long!
