Nice that NY is a "nuclear free zone" while having no problem with their country being defended by thousands of carrier-personnell that live 100m away from 3x 500 MW reactors for years! Dumb and double-standarded...

Do NY prefer diesel-carrier with tons of smoke instead? Some parts of society & politicians are so abhorrently stupid...

Yes, it could. New York's "beliefs" have zero impact upon the federal government's ability and plans to prepare to defend the country. Nuclear armed and powered USN vessels can come and go from New York City if they please as the Supremacy Clause regarding military operations would control. Now, the USN may choose to not send nuclear armed ships into New York waters to avoid ruffling feathers, but they absolutely can still do so.
