An aviator's dream. Strong horizontal elements (trees, glowing terminal) peek out of the mist and are balanced by the runway lighting. The fog gives it a dreamlike quality. The departing aircraft is a bonus. You also can't discount how the wedge of the trees and the holes in the clouds add to the quality of the composition. Beautifully executed.

Love the surreal look - I can imagine MUC is an island surrounded by calm seas.

Or, looks a bit like Siberia, with an out-of-place modern airport.

I may be rating this shot to high. this is my first visit to the site but i am such a plane nut that i don't know if i have ever seen a bad shot !! but i do think this is a good photo. it kind of makes you feel you are there. i landed in newfundland in winter many year ago and it looked a bit like this but it was snow not fog or mist. beautiful.

A 5* shot of a 5* airport! clear composition and great timing! MUC is very well thought through and well laid-out. The very un-german Bavarian friendliness makes it a comfy and relaxed place. Certainly the best airport in Europe and one of the best worldwide... highly recommended!

Perfect illustration of MIFG - this photo should be shown to pilots and weather men learning the basics. Also nice how the runway and most taxiways aren't covered by fog thanks to the heat generated by aircraft engines.

The atmosphere reminds me the adventures of Sindbad in which an invisible city is described which appeared for one day, every 100 years. Here is the modern version of story; an airport which has just appeared.
