AAL72 prepares for departure to Chicago O'Hare International Airport. First delivered to KLM in April of 1973, MSN 46555 is bathed in a rich history. She went on to fly for Venezuelan International Airways (VIASA) and finally for American Airlines beginning in 1983. The DC-10 was the backbone of American Airlines wide-body fleet for many years. Today this aircraft serves as AAL72 to Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Seven months later she would be retired from the fleet and stored in Victorville, CA.

I was an American Airlines mechanic for 25 years, the DC-10 was my favorite airplane. The -Dash-30 was a beast, it had a gross takeoff weight of a 600,000 lbs.
