Close-cropped ‘Window View’ of the Port-side wing of Tanker-modified RAAF 33 Squadron Boeing 707-338C(KC) A20-624 Cn 19624, just after touch-down at Washington / Dulles (IAD/KIAD) on 14Sep1992, ending a 7.7 hour flight from London Stansted EGSS UK. All the ‘wing feathers’ are out – the deployed slotted flaps and spoilers make the wing look ‘dis-assembled’. The aircraft was returning from UK – used as transport for RAAF personnel attending the 1992 Farnborough Airshow.

WOW, this picture takes me almost 40 years back to the day I saw for the first time a "broken wing" (it was also a picture of a 707) in an aviation book. It wasn't the beginning of my interest in aviation (I opened the book for a reason) but ever since my favorite sub system in an aircraft was Flight Control in general and the flaps in particular (especially the 747 which has (had) a triple slot flaps).
