About as rare a visitor as you're going to get at DFW! "Shusha" pulls into gate D11 after a 14.5 hour haul from Atyrau, Kazakhstan. She is one of 18 flights to rescue Kazakhstani citizens from abroad due to the current Coronavirus pandemic.

I’d have thought Kazakhstan would have used an Air Astana aircraft to evacuate their people.

Perhaps a show of solidarity between these two countries!

They’re Central Asian countries but perhaps so.

You are so correct and I am so corrected! Not Eastern European (since edited my response) but Central Asian!

No, Azerbaijan is Caucasian (but both are ex-USSR)

You would think so, but I believe it's a large joint-operation.

Agreed. One of the best liveries ever!

So which direction is the rescue? I read the photo caption but "abroad" is relative. I presume it is America to Azerbaijan. Serious question...I'd like to confirm please.

I've always liked these colors...on the 787 it is beautiful.

Thank you.

What a great catch down in Dallas! One bird I never caught at PAE unfortunately.

Thanks! I had to make it out there for this one. Probably the first and only time we'll see an AZAL bird here.

It's a good catch! Potentially a beautiful livery, with nice colours, but I think the undulating light blue line and the WordPerfect-like 'A Z E R B A I J A N' font make it look cheap.
