I imagine the Captain of this sailboat finally realizes that he better look up and check his sails, because he's bound to feel some of that jet blast as this BA B747 rockets it way to the UK. RWY 9 departure at BOS @ 420MM (300mm f/4+1.4x 40D). See Dan Vincent's shot of this from a slightly different angle and crop.

I bet the sailboat suffered a lot of wake turbulence after the queen's passage!
Anyway, perfect composition and time, with a prfect light!

Ron, your photos remind me of a quote I read from Dave Matthews, talking about Radiohead:

"Everytime I buy a Radiohead album, I think, 'maybe this is the one that will suck.' But it never does...."

Excellent shot.

Two worlds in a picture.
I would rather have the yacht instead of the flight to LHR

What a great picture! Seeing a 747 on takeoff is always amazing to me. How does something so big and heavy FLY?? I know the technical answer, but it is still incredible.

Great photo, some extra atmosphere because of the low light levels

One of those photos you just find yourself staring at for minutes on end. Look at those wings flex to take the load and you can almost hear those 4 fans straining hard to push the Queen into the sky. Excellent capture. Im sure this will become a wallpaper for a great many people all over the world!

THE 747 ANGLE!Nothing beats her from this angle.

A physics lesson demonstrated by an excellent picture...A little bit of wind can propel a sailboat through the water...a bit more over a superbly engineered airfoil can lift 400 tons of airplane!
