At the gate on a hot summer day. This was the 29th A300 with Eastern Air Lines at the time, which ultimately operated 34 of the type. This aircraft was delivered as new to EAL on 13 Oct 1980, went on to United Aviation Services on 23 Aug 1988 and was last operated by Alitalia as “Michelangelo”. It was broken up in 2005.

I don’t think that this is ATL. Surely that large hangar in the background will give away the airport.

Note that the yellow steps are used to connect the external power which is not reachable from the ground on the A300B4.

Thanks for pointing that out! When uploading, I mentioned that the airport is a best guess. I would be happy to correct the photo, in interests of accuracy. The other airports I can narrow this down to are MCO, TPA and LAS around that date. That large hangar in the background will hopefully provide the clue.

What a photo. I still maintain to this day that the A300/A310 were two very under-rated airplanes aesthetically speaking. Loved the front-end with that classic airbus windshield and loved how the rear fuselage tapered up. Both aircraft looked great with the winglets too. And how I miss the Eastern Livery. Those were the days.
